i had to look this up because it was bugging me

in the last 20 MLB seasons (exlcuding the strike year of 1994), the NL teams have won the world series only 6 times

Dodgers-1988

Reds-1990

Braves-1995

Marlins-1997

Diamondbacks-2001

Marlins-2003

that makes the AL 14-6 in the last 20 world series. do you think the trend continues for the AL this year, or does an NL team win it??

  1. I'm thinking AL. The Angels, Red Sox, or Rays I see are going to win the world series.

  2. The NL is at a bit of a disadvantage because they don't carry an extra hitter to be a proud and plump DH and let's face it, AL or NL pitcher, most of them will perform the same, 0 fer.

I think the Angels are going to be a very strong team going into the playoffs.  If the Sox and the Rays also get in, there are 3 teams that could win it and for the NL, outside of the Cubs, is any team really balanced enough for someone to have it jump out at you that they can win?

  3. Right now, the only teams from the NL that are consistent enough to have a shot are the Cubs and maybe Cards. Really no NL team has been able to put pitching, fielding, and hitting together at once for an extended period of time, except maybe the Cubs who are clearly to top of the NL. The Cards need bullpen help though.

For the East, you never know what to expect from the Mets in crunch time and the Phillies offense seems to go with one hot bat at a time, not all at once.

The NL West is a lost cause at the moment and none of the have both pitching and hitting. The Dodgers have the bats, but Arizona has the arms.

So unless its the Cubs in the World Series, I'd expect the trend to continue. But just wait, in 15 years it will seem like the AL can't win one. Baseball has an odd way of going in streaks, as we've seen in the all-star game's history.

  4. Mmmm

I see a NL team from the Central winning

3 great teams, a great chance of winning the WS

  5. Even with that evidence, i still think this is the year the Cubs break the curse of the billy goat. I said it during the preseason, and i'm sticking with now.

And by the way, The A.L. is 13-7; The Cardinals won in 2006. Remember?

  6. AL AL the way
