Question:

World Series Matchup....?

Apparently every question so far about the World Series seams to be "who do you want?" Here's one where you can agree or disagree with someone.

You know, a question for some to be able to "go off" if they really disagree. So here's the "question" (preceded by a statement).

I would like to see the Brewers and Rays in the World Series. C.C. and his new team vs. (most likely) Rookie of the Year. Do you agree or disagree with that being a good series? And if you disagree, who instead, and why?

  1. i  realy like the brewers but i would really like to see new york mets vs the tampa bay rays

    the matchups:

    p- santana vs garza

    c- castro(schnieder)vsdioner navarro

    1B-delgado(possibly texeira) vs carlos pena

2B-maybe damion easley or luis castillo or argenis reyes vs akinori iwamura

3B- david wright vs evan longoria

  2. Cubs vs. Angels

  3. i think the best possible series for the game of baseball would be cubs and red sox but do i want that no i would like to see the marlins and the rays because they are 2 small market teams and i like watching both teams play the game

  4. Considering what the possible World Series COULD be this year, I think that the Brewers-Rays would be fairly boring.

The Rays would be a good story to come from the American League, so that wouldn't be the problem.  They are however, a small market team.  Teams like the Red Sox or Yankees, if they made it, always get people to watch them because they're the big spenders in the MLB.  The Angels also generate a lot of interest on the West Coast, and if the Tigers climb into the playoffs they would create a nice "getting hot at the right time" story.

The Brewers, however, would not be the best team to come out of the N.L.  The Cubs obviously would create the best matchup, regardless of who they've faced, because they're popular and haven't won it in forever.  The Phillies would make a fun WS to watch because of their good offense, and if the Mets found a way in they're another big-market team.

I think the best possible World Series we can see this year is Red Sox vs. Cubs.  I don't think there could be a better result than to see now-spoiled Boston fans lose the championship to the team that has endured losing for longer, the Cubs.  Phillies-Tigers could be a blast from the 80s and provide a lot of offense, and the Yankees vs. anyone else is always entertaining.

  5. it's going to be the mets vs the la angles the 2008 world series champions will be the angles!!!

  6. I would like it for sure.  I'd really rather see the Cubs win soon, but maybe not this year.

I wouldn't want the Cubs Fans to say "See, the C did stand for 100", that's like believing in curses.

It's sad that most people aren't baseball fans and need a big market team in there to provide identity.  I'm ok with most teams.  I was hoping for a Cleveland - Brewers World series last year, but the Rockies going 21 for 22 and getting in on a playoff meant that a team really had to defy odds to get in and as such, were completely overmatched.

That was a boring world series last year.

  7. I think it is a good and bad series for baseball:

Good - because you have two teams that have been at the bottom of the barrel for so long finally playing for a title. Could be a very good pitching series the whole way through. It would also be very interesting to see them go through the top teams in their league to get there (Rays - Yanks/Red Sox, Angels, etc. and Cubs, Phils/Mets for the Brew Crew)

Bad - Two smaller market teams would generate very little interest in the fall classic and the teams might not get the exposure they deserve. And besides C.C. I don't see any real personality on either team that would make them exciting to watch if you are not a fan of either team.

I would watch no matter who is in it, but I'm speaking on a more general basis. The best match-up from a general perspective is Red Sox and Cubs because of the markets involved, the hype of the Cubs curse, the players/Pinella involved, etc.

Edit: Looks like me and Rick are on the same page here

  8. i would like to see a angels dodgers freeway world series.that would be cool.but i doubt the dodgers would make it

  9. a's vs. cubs

  10. I disagree because I think what would be best for baseball is Cubs and Red Sox

This would be great for baseball because just look at all the people that would tune in to see if the Cubs could finally pull it off this year...not to mention there (once) fiery manager Lou Piniella and their potent offense

AND the Red Sox potent offense and possible repeat

Thats why I think this would be the best matchup.

  11. disagree because i want to see the Cubs vs Red Sox because Cubs and Red Sox both are great historic teams with historic ballparks

  12. Chicago Cubs vs. The Chicago White Sox.

With a 4 game sweep by The White Sox without using the bullpen!

    Amen

  13. I think the Rays and Phills will take the East. Brew Crew and White Sox will take the Central. Rockies and the Angels will the West. Cardinals and Red Sox take the Wild Card.

I Think its going to be The Cardinals vs. the Rays
