The overall results for the morning session are given below:
Stephen Groves 1-4 Andrew Norman
The first match of the morning between Andrew Norman and Stephen Groves was a bit old -fashioned. However Norman, who dropped-off the professional tour in 2009, was able to secure a 4-1 win over the Groves, which means he still has hopes of regaining his
professional tour card.
James McBain 3-4 Lee Spick
For the Scotland’s professional, James McBain, it was a bad morning, as he lost his battle to Lee Spick in the final deciding frame. He was on the verge of clinching the victory, as he was leading by 3-1, before Spick bounced back into the game, with all
of his strength and won all three frames in a row.
Robert James 2-4 Luke Simmonds
The match between these two was very much unpredictable, as they are never seen much on the table. However, the players fought well but in the end it was Simmonds who came on the top. He also showcased magnificent breaks of 47, 61 and 76 in the first, fourth
and sixth frame. He will now face Lee Spick, next.
Michael Wild 4-0 Hans Blanckaert
The most impressive performance of the morning session came from Michael Wild, as he completely whitewashed his opponent to move ahead. Though the prominent breaks from his side were 30, 51 and 38, he sealed the victory showing his flawless safety skills.
Stephen Ormerod 3-4 Lee Walker
Former World Championship quarter-finalist, Lee Walker, who was relegated from the tour following the 2007-08 season, has also progressed in the second round after he edged Ormerod in a final deciding frame. The top break from Walker was 49.
Stephen Rowlings 3-4 Ian Glover
Another cut-throat competition was seen between Stephen Rowling and Ian Glover. It was a nightmare for Rowlings, as he needed only one frame to reach the finish-line, before his opponent clawed back and registered a 3-4 win over him. Glover also knocked
in a carving break of 73 in the decider.
