World Snooker announces event schedule for 2012 Premier League Snooker – Snooker Update
Snooker governing body across the globe, World Snooker, has launched the new season with the commencement of the World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. Meanwhile, the association also announced the new schedule
for one of the important snooker events, the 2012 Premier League Snooker.
World Snooker recently made some changes in the format of play of the Premier League Snooker. These changes were made by the one and only Barry Hearn, the World Snooker Chairman, who always believed in making new changes in the snooker events so that they
can get more appreciation around the world. To fulfil his purpose, he has already revamped many snooker tournaments.
According to the new format of the mega series, 10 top guns of snooker will take part in an event and they will be divided into two groups. Each individual form each group will play against all players of the opposite group.
Four potters out of both groups will qualify for the semi-finals. Each match will be best-of-six frames and a winner will get two points while each played will be awarded one point each if a match ends in a draw. If two players are at level according to
their points, their position will be determined on the basis of their frame victories.
Last year’s Premier League event was won by none other than the 2012 World Snooker Champion Ronnie O’Sullivan who will be defending his title once again.
