World Snooker releases pro tour players’ list for next two years – Snooker News
World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) finished successfully at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield featuring 12 new pro tour winners. These new pro tour ticket holders include Martin O'Donnell, Ian Burns, Chen Zhe, Sam Baird, Daniel Wells, Jamie
O'Neill, Paul Davison, Sean O'Sullivan, Joel Walker, Robbie Williams, Rod Lawler and Michael Wasley.
After a successful conclusion of the 2012 World Snooker Q School, the snooker governing body, World Snooker has released the list of professionals who will participate in the pro tour for the next two years. According to the new rules devised by the World
Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA), 128 players will take part in the upcoming snooker seasons.
So far, 99 potters have been finalised for the next two snooker seasons. The list includes the World Top 16 potters comprising of top guns like 2011 UK Championship winner Judd Trump, the 2011 Shanghai Masters winner Mark Selby, the 2012 World Snooker Championship
winner Ronnie O’Sullivan, the former World Champions Mark Williams, Neil Robertson and John Higgins.
Meanwhile, other potters include the World Snooker Q School qualifiers, winner of International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Snooker Championship Iran’s Hossein Vafaei Ayouri, IBSF Under-21 World Snooker Championship winner Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon
of Thailand and the 2012 Asian Snooker Championship winner India’s Aditya Mehta.
While speaking to the local media after getting nominated for the two-year pro tour, Vafaei said, “I am very excited and determined to succeed on the pro circuit. I have played as a wild card in two ranking events in China and I can't wait to play in the
big tournaments. My target for the next two years is to win ranking tournaments and reach the top 16. I believe I can do this.”
He added, “I am very proud to be the first Iranian pro and I hope I can do well to make my people happy. My Federation has supported me enormously and I hope I can do well to make them proud.”
The African Billiards and Snooker Association nominated Mohamed Khairy for the professional tour while the Chinese federation chose Cao Yupeng and Tian Pengfei for the pro tour.
