Below is the results from testing in Philip Island for the WSS. Rea is 0.4 off pole and level with Pitt and 0.7 ahead of Walker. I am hoping that he can win the Championship and progress next year. How do you think he will do and do you know where I can find information about WSS?

1. Parkes (AUS-Yamaha) 1'34”6

2. Rea (GBR-Honda) 1'35”0

3. Pitt (AUS-Honda) 1'35”0

4. Foret (FRA-Yamaha) 1'35”2

5. Fujiwara (JPN-Kawasaki) 1'35”6

6. Walker (GBR-Kawasaki) 1'35”7

7. Joshua Brookes (AUS-Stiggy Motorsport Honda) 1'35”7

8. McCoy (AUS-Triumph) 1'35”9

9. Robbin Harms (DEN-Stiggy Motorsport Honda) 1'36”4

  1. Hi Cheryl

Jonathan certainly has the talent and the equipment to be wss champion this season.

Ten Kate have won it for the last six (i think) years in a row!

His team mate Pitt (an ex wss champ) has far more wss experience, but Johnathan is already matching him. I'm sure Rea is far more hungry for it, so my money is going on him.

I love all forms of two wheeled motor sport, and WSBK is obviously the pinnacle of production based racing. But for me, this season, I'll be much more interested in WSS for the simple reason that there's home grown talent with a real chance of success.

All with the added bonus that Triumph are back.........and look like being competitive.

I cant wait for the season to start.....Roll on 23rd Feb!

  2. Hi Cheryl. I personally don't think he has the machinery to do it.

I think Brock parkes has got to be a hot favourite. But I am going to keep an eye on Gary McCoy and the triumph. Andrew Pitt is a dark horse bet to win the title. he works hard.  should provide some entertainment.

there will be info on the euro-sport site. probably something on soup maybe on crash net too.

  3. Jonathan will be right up there fighting for the win as he has a good team behind him and hopefully he wouldn,t throw it up the road any time this year as he done last year in the BSB.Try Eurosport for info about WSS.

  4. Hey Cheryl

I think Shuggie said it well, and I really hope he [Rea] has a great season and gets noticed, but I REALLY hope Triumph do well and kick some butt this season.

  5. Good reporting work Cheryl.

I really think Johnny Reas is the man to watch this year. A great talent for the future ( and now )

With any luck he will be in MotoGP by 2009 / 2010.

  6. Hi Cheryl,

As I have answered in another question, pre-season testing is not something that I really like to read too much into as it so often proves to have shown nothing of relevance by the time the end of the season comes around.

However not to be just a grumpy old man, it is great to see his time and I do hope that he does well but I think the championship is unlikely. If he keeps himself up front and gets noticed by the bigger classes then that will be a great season in itself, so fingers crossed.

The best thing on that list for me however is the man in 8th place. That is brilliant. Gary is a fantastic rider and for those of us who got to see him power sliding a 500 GP bike around, it was a treat that no one else has been truly able to replicate on the same level. Valentino followed him around a few times and commented along the lines of how amazing it was to watch. So that is where my interest in WSS will be this year.
