  1. Superbikes are based upon street bikes that you and I could ride (yeah right!!) in that their silhouette has to resemble a production bike.

They're pretty heavily modified though, and performance wise, about the best you will ever see those models run.

The idea for manufacturers was "win on Sunday - sell on Monday" but since some strange rules came  in (one tyre manufacturer, engine sizes re: 2 and 4 strokes) a lot of folk seem to have got the hump with the series (ask Wiggy san as he knows s**t loads about superbikes - and hates 'em!)

In Motogp - any body can build any bike (within certain criteria ) and get out there.

The above sites will explain in a more lucid fashion than I could.

  2. I think the bikes are different. I can't really watch superbike here but I've heard that the type of bikes that are used in superbike are more like the normal ones that you can find in the stores.

But of course I'm not so sure :) And I alos find the superbike more interesting... There are more riders and you never know who is going to win :) as I said.. I ain't so sure about it :)

  3. Dingo got it right.

    Superbikes: (SHlTE)

Road "based" machines. Very tight rules. Same boring tyres. 2 races per Sunday........ yawn yawn.

    MOTOGP:

4 stroke 800cc pure one off prototype machines kicking out massive amount of power.

Any tyres you like, any spec shaped fairings you like. There are rules, but the enginners always make the bikes very very fast and stay within them.

In Motogp there are also 250cc & 125cc 2 stroke machines. These are very offten the best racing on the day, making them the best racing in world.

My 2 pennys worth, W.S.B will be dead by about 2012 due to no major companys wanting to back the series. One make tyres is very slippery slope to strat with. Even Dunlop have stuck in with the Motogp class!

  4. The Difference Is World Superbike Is A Factory Bike Which You Can Buy Off The Sho room Floor, MOTO GP Bikes Are Like A Concept Car Only Is Never Released To The public The Are Lighter And Have Way More Power Than A Regular Showroom Bike!!!
