World University Badminton Championships: Koji Naito beats Martin John Giuffre in Men’s Singles clash
Koji Naito, one of the best players in Japan, worked really hard in the arena and remained successful in winning his battle against Canada’s Martin John Giuffre at the 12th World University Badminton Championships 2012 in Korea, on Wednesday,
November 7.
The aggressive Naito, who has been showing a good performance in the last one year, had to dig deep into his arsenal and he managed to win the match in 46 minutes after a thrilling fight.
Naito got a perfect start in the contest against his Canadian rival but failed to stop him from taking the second game. However, he did not show any sluggishness to his opponent in the deciding game and won the fight in three games.
In the meanwhile, Martin played with superb precision and managed to win the second game before losing the match to his in-form challenger in rubber sets with a respectable margin on the score board.
Right from the starting points of opening game, Naito performed remarkably well as he played with spectacular speed and took over the charge of rallies without facing any opposition.
Japanese shuttler showed his aggression in the arena and remained successful in taking a strong lead at the early stage of the game.
Naito progressed with a terrific speed in the first part and remained successful in setting up a wonderful lead until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, the fight progressed in the same way as Naito stayed in lead without losing his commanding position on court.
The in-form Japanese shuttler was quite calm and composed on court as he did not take pressure and won the set in a one-sided fashion with a stunning margin of 21-10.
In the second game, both shuttlers played to their maximum potential on court and stayed close in the arena all the way until the score reached at 20-20.
At this stage, Japanese shuttler could not play well as he lost his focus and eventually lost the set with a close 20-22 score on the board.
However, in the deciding set, the impressive Naito played in a completely dominating fashion as he remained ahead on score board until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Naito did not show any respect to Martin and won the set with a crushing 21-12 score on the board.
Naito won this thrilling battle in three games by taking 46 minutes with a reasonable margin of 21-10, 20-22 and 21-12.
