  1. There was a world-wide flu pandemic, from March, 1918, through 1919. The first cases were diagnosed on the same day, at Fort Riley, Kansas. If the war hadn't been going on, there could have been a quarantine. Then, the flu would not have spread all over the US, then to Europe, and finally to the whole world.

    Russia was so badly damaged by the war, that it had the Communist Revolution.

    Germany and Austria were so badly ruined by the war, and by the Depression, and those people were so afraid of Russia's Communism, that they allowed Hitler to come to power.

  3. And France was so badly damaged that it totally recovered in population level in the 70's.
