World War 3...it is only inevitable..?

It seems as if the world is really volatile lately. I think the possibility of a world war is inevitable. You have the lunatic Chavez in Venezuela with a valuable resource like oil at his disposal. You have the crazies in Iran going back and forth with Israel and the US. It doesnt help that they're having "p***s-judging" contests. You have the situation in Kosovo where they just gained independence, at the expense of Serbian-pride. Russia is fully backing the Serbs. Russia also is fuming over the proposed missle shield. Then you have China. With the Taiwan-situation and their eventual need for even more naturual resources for the ever-growing population, China could make a move anytime. They're already heavily invested in Africa. I am not entirely convinced we've heard the last of North Korea. India and Pakistan will alsways be on pins 'n' needles. I worry about my generation and see very, very hard times if conflict was to start.

Do you guys share my beliefs? Where will it happen?

  1. It will happen as soon as Iran finalise their missile plans, or at the stage when Israel suspects they have, and attacks first.

Everyone will get drawn in, and with nukes flying around, we're all in trouble.

  2. Not only that but the UK and US housing markets and general economies are about to crash in their entirety, oil prices are skyrocketing, the planet as a whole is facing a food crisis on a level never before witnessed, and islam is growing and murdering everywhere it goes.

The whole world is on the verge of armageddon. The situation we're facing is not only something we've never witnessed before, but something I seriously doubt we will ever recover from.

I'm so, so glad I decided never to have kids. Life today is hard enough in many places - I dread to think what it will be like in 5 years' time.

Look at the distances people in the US have to travel every day. When there's no oil left, or it's in such short supply that it's not affordable, the entire country will grind to a halt. There will be civil war and unrest, with millions killed.

Now look at Iraq. Thousands are dead, but at least you've secured some more oil to keep things going for a few more years. It's literally a case of you or them, your own family and friends - or theirs. Americans (and us Brits) should be glad our administrations had the balls to go buy us some time, to develop and implement alternative fuel production sources.

Try telling that to the Liberals though..

  3. Iran are no threat to the West, we could finish them off with one war head from the Trident Sub.

China is the real worry at the moment

  4. it is only a matter of time.

  5. Yes. There is no way we will go for the rest of civilisation without starting a war. Man is a warlike animal. We are the only species that does this. Which is odd, as we are supposedly the most intelligent (apart from dolphins and white mice) ;). I think that if there is a war soon it will start in Persia somewhere, but the alliance system there will need to become more stupidly entangled with Western politics first. War is for life, but not for long.

However, on the positive side, I think that if we can educate people to be less prejudiced against eachother (for example, hardly any Muslims are extremists who want to kill us! Most are nice people). this possiblity will decrease.

  6. It's not particularly likely to happen unless competition for resources turns into a life and death struggle.  Iran is such a fringe power that it's kind of a joke to think about war with them.  It would be won with just a couple sorties of stealth fighters followed by bomber onslaughts.  They could launch about 20 missiles at israel not capable of doing any real city wide damage.  North Korea could nuke South korea but that would be the all time greatest mistake considering they couldn't win that war and they would lose all food aid.  China meanwhile has about as much reason for going to war with us as Japan does.  They would lose everything and gain nothing.

  7. Inevitable, mankind has always tried to destroy itself.

It will happen in the Middle East & of course only a few madmen will start it.
