World XI tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 postponed – Cricket News Update
Pakistan's hopes of reviving international cricket on home soil hit yet another setback, following a conflict between the local organizers and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), resulting in the postponement of the World XI series.
According to reports, the Sindh Sports Minister, Dr. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Ali-Shah-c76657, in collaboration with US-based company Xtreme Sports, had tied knots with renowned international players for two twenty20 matches - scheduled to be played in Karachi National Stadium
on May 25 and 26.
The PCB however, was not impressed with the independent execution by the organizers and hence, refused to back the series as an official breakthrough event. The board further highlighted that it was difficult to make security arrangements for international
players in such a short span, claiming that they remain preoccupied with Men in Green’s own upcoming assignment, against hosts http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, which has further prevented them from getting involved wholeheartedly.
The other reason for the postponement was owed towards the sponsors, who wanted the organizers to ensure the complete participation of the national team players; however, with the players currently undergoing strict training routines, it was a viable option
to reschedule the series for a later date.
“The PCB, after looking at the potential in the event, wanted a role in the matches. We were left with no choice but to postpone as the PCB is the game’s governing body in the country and we don’t want any tiff with it but want to host these matches in a
befitting manner,” said an organizer.
“We want our national team to take on the World XI. The matches will now be held after the tour of Sri Lanka that ends on July 13. The tentative dates are July 14 and 15 but it will be finalized after consultation with the PCB Chairman Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397.” said
Shah in a statement.
The organizers however, remain optimistic that the series will prove significant in terms of reviving the country’s chances of hosting International matches – a scenario absent since 2009.
The Sindh minister further revealed that players, including http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JE-Taylor-c1682 have all confirmed their participation in the limited-overs games, and is hopeful that they
will be available to take part in the postponed series – considering that all players are already paid 10 percent of their match fee.
