  1. It's bunk.  In the purest scientific sense, oil is a "renewable resource"--but it takes about 50 million years  For all practical purposes, it is not renewable.

Nor is this a problem.  We do not need oil--it is an obsolete technology, plain and simple.

Look at the facts--and, by the way, at what is going to happen over the next 20-30 years:

    >introduce fuel efficient cars (cutting oil use by about 50%)

    >introducing electric cars (which now have performance equal to gas-powered cars).  Evenutally,  that takes care of the other 50 % of demand for gas for cars.

    >expanded mass transit.  America, BTW, is the only industrialized country where most urban dwellers are denied a real choice of types f transportation.

    >rapidly declining costs of solar energy

    >cost-effective wind power

    >modern nuclear power technology that is safe and cost-effective.

So why do we need a power technology like oil that was invented back in the 1800s and is simply not as good as modern alternatives?

Other than to keep oil companies supplied with caviar and hookers, that is?

  2. yeah i know ecomenalists and protesting against nothing the idiots i Will continue to buy drive and support huge 4x4s and heavy polluting vehicles just to annoy Eco people.

  3. There are no shortages....

  4. They're abusing the word theory.  By calling the known fact that oil comes from life forms "peak oil theory" they're trying to make it seem like all of our known biological and chemical science is "just a theory."  Likewise, by calling a guess that oil somehow seeps up from inside the Earth a theory, they're trying to make it sound like those two ideas are equivelent.  The article obviously contradicts itself by saying that the oil comes from inside the Earth and that it can happen forever.  Anything that comes from just one place like that obviously can't last forever.  If oil really was coming up like that, we'd have oil volcanos.
