  1. You can probably forget about that Shortwave for a car...

They have had them and reportedly Sony makes one for outside the US called a XRCA620X which looks just like a normal Sony Xplod unit but can only be found apparently still in Africa and the Middle east.

BUT shortwave is a very hard to recive medium for the targets you want. A real antenna about the size of a 8 foot CB antenna or bigger would be needed and still won't pick up the stations like you want. WHY?  Most Latin American stations are broadcasting in country or regionally, not to be picked up say in North America .. This is why Short wave listeners invest in big home radios and big antennas to listen to these stations when they can get them (as most are around 3 MHZ and any thunderstorms within say 300 miles can tear reception up)

Best bet is what Duh said..sorry

  2. Best bet (not cheap) is get a phone with browsing capabilities and plan. Then you can "listen live" to your favorite stations through their websites or to one of the many streaming online Hispanic stations.

It should be a multimedia phone with bluetooth and a way to get the audio from the phone to your car stereo. Explain that to the clerk at AT&T/Cingular, Verizon or Sprint store.
