Question:

World theme living room decor. I recently painted my living room and I'm now in the process of decorating it.

Three walls are like a pumpkin butter (behr) and one is ground nutmeg. Our fireplace is white. We have bamboo woven shades on the window. My husband wants a "world theme decor." He wants to put up pictures of places we would like to visit. I am not too keen on the idea but I'm going to go with it. Any ideas as to what I could do? I don't think it would be too hard to find wall decor, I'm having a hard time finding accents for the coffee table, accent table etc. Any suggestions??

  2. maps, globes, maybe an antique trunk or vintage luggage with travel decals on them, coffee table books about travel...

  3. Some items for coffee table that fit your world theme

  4. How about a large antique map framed on the wall or over the fireplace?

  5. Put some pictures of the places with gold frames on them and decorate the coffee table with candles that smell like vanilla! =))

  6. We have a world flavor to our whole house. I like to collect instruments, usually African percussion. It's fun to have things around that people can pick up and try out. You can find cool stuff at stores like World Market, Ten Thousand Villages, Pier One, or even Target. Look for baskets, statues, wall hangings. Mix elements... metal, wood, glass, beads, candles, light.

We also use a variety of fabrics. I recently bought some nice batiks at JoAnn Fabrics and covered my pillows with it. I also took a leftover piece and put it in a large picture frame. That $1 scrap looks fantastic framed!

What's great about a world theme is that just about anything goes. Mix colors, textures, uses. You really can't go wrong.
