World wide Networking?

Is it possible to network computers that are in different states or countries? If so, how??

Look into some software called hamachi. I was able to network a PC that is behind a firewall with a friends that was behind a router.

Also depending on how much control you have over your network you can have it so that others can VPN into your network. I run a linux based system as my firewall (sme server). I have been using if for the past almost 10 years and love it.
