Ok so Im going to this Resort in March of this year. I am wondering if there really is a need for a rental car. I know there are some that are owners that answer to these, so from past experience, do you really need a rental car or can you just get by in bus and taxi we are going from the 6th through the 10th. Also any fun things to do while you are there.....Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

  1. Being on the "tourist corridor" strip between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas can be pretty annoying. It's noisy and you have to travel to get anywhere that's not a resort. If you can still bow out of your reservation, consider staying in a resort along the Cabo San Lucas "hotel beach." It's a short walk to the center of town, yet you still get all of the benefits of a resort vacation. Check my source for more 411.

  2. Hola.  I know the Coral Baja well.  I also know some owners.  Its a lovely resort at the west end of the town of SJD.  It is right on the corridor freeway, so I have heard several people say it was very noisy....mind you, most of the suites face the ocean, so it can't be that bad.  The pools and grounds are nicely done, and I often go to their pasta special nights at Mamma Mias.  The beach is right at your doorstep, but Costa Azul can be considered a bit rough...I enjoy watching the surfers down the way.

Its hard to say if a rental car isn't/is really required.  First, you can pretty well walk to the town of SJD, might be about 15 mins or so.  There you can shop and go to restaurants and sightsee.  You can utilize the taxis or buses if you find yourself with too much to carry back.

The buses to Cabo run right outside your door.  There is usually one that goes by at least once every 1/2 hour.  You just have to flag them down.  You can catch a bus to take you for sightseeing in Cabo, or for a day at the swimming/snorkeling beaches of Chileno or Santa Maria.  If you plan to go to the nightclubs, you may have to take a $50 taxi back home because the buses stop running early.

Things to do are run by tour groups.  There are several great ones in town.  You can book ATVing, zip lining, 4X4ing, fishing, golfing, kayaking, whale watching.  Check out the website www.loscabosguide.com for uptodate info on all of that.

    Have a great vacation.

  3. I have stayed at the trendwest in san jose del cabo and visited downtown cabo by bus. there is a bus stop right off the main street the resort is on. we rented a car for one day of driving to visit the town ( can't remember name) that hotel california is in. it's alot of driving but a cute little town. taking the bus wasn't terrible, we visited costco a few times to shop and the bus helped us out alot.
