  1. I don't think any one airline has a monopoly on the best pilots. And I really don't think it's a concern.

The captains of airliners, regardless of the type of aircraft, are very skilled professionals who know precisely what they are doing. If they didn't, they wouldn't be sitting in that seat.

  2. Many airline pilots are former military pilots. They have the experience and thousands of hours of flight time that makes them so good. I couldn't say which airline has the best because they all have to be good.

  3. Well there was a Canadian airline which was part airline and part bush line.

Most Canadian airlines fly into 5000' (WWII) gravel strips up North. Not to mention the wild weather up there and the lack of Nav Aids

So I would have to say I would go with Canadian Airline Pilots.

  4. Presumably you're referring to the major passenger airlines. My vote goes to Alaska Airlines, particularly to those pilots who fly the Alaska portion of their route structure. Between geography and weather, Alaska presents some of the most difficult flying conditions in the world. I used to be an Alaska bush pilot and before 911, I jumpseated alot in the cockpits of Alaska Airlines jets and never ceased to be amazed at the things they did (and still do) on a routine basis. Most other airline flying pales in comparison in terms of difficulty, yet Alaska Air has a very impressive safety record.

p.s. an a nod goes to the Canadians and Scandanavians too.

  5. This is a virtually impossible question to answer. There will be good guys in every airline.

I have respect for NZ pilots because similar to Canada, we have alot of things here which you cannot get in most places in the world. NZ is a very tough place to train in terms of conditions etc etc etc... But situtaions differ in many places in the globe

But realistically speaking, no one airline has the best pilots.

  6. British Airways is officially the 'world's favourite airline'.  The pilots who fly for them are among the best in the world, and their wages reflect this.  However all pilots of the major airlines are among the best in the world, because of the responsibility and the experience they have.

  7. I would have to say North Carolina and South Carolina.

  8. That is pretty much impossible to answer.  How do we judge how good a pilot is???????  If I had to throw an airline out there, I would say more like a UPS rather than an American or United.  UPS doesn't hire just anybody, they fly great equipment, and that is where I want to be eventually, so I would like to believe that they are the best.

  9. Lufthansa has an impeccable safety record and so does Qantas.

  10. probaly QANTAS and JET STAR because Qantas has no Accidents AND jET STAR MANAGED TO HANDLE THE a330 incidents quite well
