Worms in puppies...?

if a puppy has worms you see the worms when it goes poo..right?

Usually yes, some of them have to be looked at under a microscope to be detected.

yes you see them they are little white worms. and the dog can get them later on as he gets older you can get a worm pill they can take from your vet.

Actually it depends on the kind of worms.  Sometimes you don't see them even if they are there.

yup! nasty but true! and sometimes they get stuck halfway and the pup does the "choo-choo" trying to get them out. hehe eeeewwww! that means its time to see his pal the good 'ol doc :)

Worms are NOT always visible in your dogs f***s.  An adult worm attaches to the intestinal wall and hangs on feeding and producing eggs and larvae that are excreted in the poo.  These tiny (actually microscopic) organisms cannot be seen with the naked eye.  Sometimes there are warning signs, and sometimes there is no way to know without doing a fecal exam.

Some signs of worms are:

1. very smelly p**p

2. sometimes slimy or bloody stool

3. sometimes visible worms (in extremely loaded animals)

4. lethargic behavior

5. light colored gums

6. lack of appetite

7. very hungry

8. loss of weight

A fecal exam is the way to go...all puppies are born with worms, and areas like the south, more than 50% of dogs have worms and they need regular wormings to keep them under control.

at times, but if you just purchased a pup and take it to the vet they should do a fecal test to see if they have worms or parasites.    all puppies are born w/ worms.  even tho you cant see them in the poo.  if they get skinny sick , or  look super bloated they have worms.

not always new puppy's should always be vet checked and store dewormers normally don't work
