The former Borussia Dortmund defender has claimed that no team is favourite going into the final of the German Cup in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536.
With Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich inching closer towards the big DFB-Pokal decider, Dortmund’s former defender, Christian Worns, is expecting a close final. Both sides will lock heads on Saturday, May 12, in Berlin with
Dortmund having a slight advantage over their fiercest rivals in the Bundesliga.
The Borussians have been unbeaten against the Reds in the past four meetings and another win can earn them a double this season. Jurgen Klopp’s troops have already won this season’s Bundesliga and will carry less pressure in the
final compared to Bayern, who also have a UEFA Champions League final coming up in a week’s time.
Bayern manager, Jupp Heynckes, will definitely not want to see any of his first team players injured especially with the three individuals already suspended for the European final. Therefore, he might be tempted to field a mixture
of youth and experience which could go in Dortmund’s favour.
While speaking exclusively to Goal.com, the 40-year-old further added:
"The Champions League final might perhaps be more important for Bayern, but you always take one game at a time. A title is at stake and both teams will want to win it. Borussia Dortmund will try to attack and play an open game,
while Bayern generally do the same. We will have to wait and see how this turns out. I hope that it will be an exciting final."
On the other hand, he echoed that both teams have equal chances of winning the title provided Bayern fields a full-strength side. He claimed that even though the Borussians might be carrying a slight advantage over their opponents
but nothing can be said firmly until the two sides have played their fixture.
"Both will obviously try to win the DFB Pokal. No team will want to give up the cup just like that. I don't really see a favourite for this game as anything can happen,” Worns concluded.
This will be Dortmund’s third game of the season against the Bavarian giants with the champions leading the German giants 2-0 after the previous two fixtures.
