Worried About My Future!

Question

I'm 13 and really worried about my future. I love singing and am good at it and would love a career in it, but the problem is I live in a small country town and already take singing lessons, but don't know what to do or where to go when I'm older. Could anyone please name some places or anyway or where I could make my future bright!

Los Angeles or Hollywood, California, but have some money, a job and a place to live lined up before you get there. Look up some places or vocal coaches on-line who could help you.

Another place would be like Nashville, TN if you're a country singer, but always have a back-up and things in place so if things fall through you won't be devastated.  You know like if auditions and gigs don't go through.  Just keep working hard at it and believe that you can make it.  Don't settle or compromise in all aspects, stay true to yourself and who you are.

I'm 14, so I have been there. I don't know of any places in Australia, but if there is some kind of talent competition whether small and local or something big like Australian Idol or Australia's got talent ( I don't know if they have that) then I would definitely do it. If you decide to come to America then I would try New York City. I would also take acting lessons if possible, because in many places you would have a better opportunity to be discovered if you are well-rounded in a couple of different stage arts. Whatever you do, whether big or "small" whatever you do with your voice will be a wonderful accomplishment! I wish you luck, from one singer to another! :)

You could go to New York. But no matter where you go, it'll still be iffy as to whether you'd get into the business or not, so you should have a backup plan! If you want to be in a band, try getting one together and making a myspace to get yourselves some publicity.

Your 13. You still have a lot of time to decide where you want to go as far as colleges. There are some really great music schools out there. The Eastman School of Music in New York, the Manhattan School of Music, and of course Julliard. These may seem like hard schools to get into. They are but, set your goals high. If this singing is really something you love go for it. I feel the same way with piano. Aim for good grades, do your best, and keep going with your singing lessons. Don't lose hope. When the time comes, you'll find a great music school that works for you.

don't worry your 13 so you have plenty of time to think but i do know there are music schools in Melbourne and sydney
