Question:

Worried about driving test?

by  |  earlier

I will be taking my actual driving test in about a month. My parents have me used to miami traffic and expressway driving. I've never done a 3 point turn (dont know how to do 1) and am not used to maintaining a slow speed. Plus i am used to driving my parents van rather than the smaller car we have. So isnt it gonna be harder to maneuver when i take the driving test?

Please help me out..what did they ask you about when you took the test?

  1. sounds like you need more practise behind the wheel..

can you paralel park? Can you back in between 2 cars?

If you cant do everything you would need to be able to do than you need to practise till you can because you never know what the driving instructor is going to you to do.

  2. Just dont think about it i did the first time and failed because i was thinking to much and not just driving. when i took mine they make you turn on lights, brights, signals, and brakes and all that good stuff then you drive around for like 15-20 mins and your done.GOOD LUCK

  3. dont worry youll do great, just relax!

  4. they didn't talk to me. he just told me where to go and watched my every move! it was awkward! i like small cars better!!!!!

  5. They made me do a 3 point turn, parallel parking, parking up hill, parking down hill, changing lanes, all the basic driving stuff.

3 point turn really isn't all that hard.  Parallel parking is harder for me.

  6. A smaller car would be easier.

    Good luck.

  7. never taken it, but have taken school. You sound ready. The biggest things are the smallest details - yes, remember how those turns work and the rules. Should be fine w/ the car. If you want, drive the car

  8. WHO NEEDS A SRIVERS LIENCENSE WHEN YOU HAVE A MONEY!

    MONEY IS MORE IMPORTANT!

  9. A smaller car should be easier.  Hey youlld do great

  10. Van's are much harder to maneuver. For a three point turn:

    signal right

    pull over to the right

    signal left

cut the wheel all the way to the left

slowly let the car roll forward

    brake

    put the car in reverse

cut the wheel all the way to the right

    Let the car roll back

    brake

    put the car in drive

cut the wheel all the way to the left

    roll foward

I took my test about 2 months ago and had to parallel park with a mini van...not fun.

Main thing is to keep calm, and don't speed.

  11. My test was like a two week long process.  Watch your mirrors, make sure your belt is on, 3 point turns you can practice before hand it's just turning around...forward, back up, forward again.  Know what road signs stand for.

  12. Being from the NYC area and been to Miami a few times you will be fine.A 3 point turn is when you turn around 1)go towards the curb 2) back up making sure your bumper is going towards the opposite end of when you came in the street 3) after you backed up enough turn the wheel and drive forward..3 point turn..

  13. ooohh. i just took my driving test! It was really easy. yeah you might have learn to maintain speed control, because that counts against you. My driver didn't ask me to do a 3pt turn, though. And if you know how to drive a van, then a smaller car should be alot easier for you. Make sure you know one way streets, my driver asked me to turn left on a oneway street that was going right. I caught him though. Know the rules of the intersections. Always signal for everything. He also told me to angle park, and parallel park. Other than that it was easy. Dont worry im sure you'll do fine, its probably all nerves.

  14. everywhere is different..i got my lisence and i dont even know what the heck a 3 point turn is..but i live in kentucky..the biggest thing i did was a turnabout and parallel. it was easy..and i think the smaller the car is the better..i drive a 2005 grand am. and it was easy in that..but if your comfortable with driving what your taking the test in you will be fine.

  15. Smaller cars are much easier, better to learn in a large vehicle and have to prove yourself in a smaller one, your parents should be teaching you the small stuff first like parking lot basics i.e parking methods, turning, slower movements not expressway driving, a needed trait nonetheless but not the ideal starting point.

  16. I failed it twice before I actually passed :(.

Just watch out, be careful and relax... You'll be fine!

  17. Dont worry I'm sure you'll be fine. When I took the test I had to go around a rotary, do a 3 point turn and back up in a straight line. Plus a little regular driving around. I live in Mass though, it's different everywhere. Good Luck!

  18. If you are comfortable with the van than use it and everything will work out.

  19. you better know all the basics like using the headlights, blinkers, horn, etc.

Three point turns are so easy, go online and look it up, or just ask a relative.  Ask your parents if you can go drive the smaller car to practice for the test.  The test is so easy, don't worry about it!

  20. honesty, it all depends on who you get to take you for your road test. I had a guy whose daughter went to my school so i rocked the highschool wear and he passed me after i rolled a stop sign! 3 pt turns are not hard just cut all the way every time and take your time! theres no rush. oh and use your blinkers haha im from NY so it might be slightly different but the road test is not meant to be extreme driving conditions its just a basic layout for what you might encounter in the future. Smaller cars are easier in my opinion because you have more room than you are expecting which is good haha oh and i wasnt asked any questions...its distracting anyway so if he tries to ask you anything just politely tell him youd rather pull over to talk and he probaby will just let you drive... good luck on your test.

  21. When I took my driving test, I had to pull out of the parking lot of the DMV, drive for a bit (on a course with multiple lanes, traffic lights, etc.), and then I came back and had to back in to a parking space. I didn't have to do parallel parking because I took it in a town where there is nowhere to parallel park, but as far as I'm aware it's common on driving tests.

  22. no it should be easier with the smaller car, just practice with the car and drive at slower speeds because they are anal about that

    lol

  23. If you can drive your parents and they don't freak out ,you will be ok,  good luck.

  24. Don't worry you'll be great!!

PETAL TO THE METAL BABBY!!!!  ^^

  25. in Oregon we don't have to parallel park but they make you drive around, make turns, go residential, and do a little freeway.  Idk if you took drivers ed- but use LSMILE when you get in the car.

L- loook around and get in

S- adjust seat and put on seatbelf

    M- adjust mirrors

    I-turn on ignition

    L-look around and in mirrirs

    E-engine and go!

they make sure youre not driving over limit and that you are checking your mirrors well.  GOOD LUCK!
