Worried about my best friend and her future?

So I graduated from college in spring of 07. I am entering my sophmore year of college for criminal justice. My best friend, is living at home, has no plans to go to college, does not even have her licenses, and is still working part time at a store (Which it seems she complains about all the time, because she gets to many hours even though she only got around 30 ) .When she is not at work, she is always online.

I am really starting to worry about her. I want her to be successful, and who knows when her parents are finally going to have enough of this, and kick her out.

I was wondering how I might be able to talk to her, and try and get her to go to college, or at least look for a decent job.

I dont think she really understands that she is in the adult world now, and this is the rest of her life she is talking about.

  1. It takes some people a long time to grow up. Nothing you can do will change her. Maybe her parents have made life to easy for her. I hope is does not take something devastating to make her realize that it is time to grow up and be a woman. You are a very caring person to have so much concern for her. It would be wonderful if she would heed your advice.

  2. I had this exact same problem with my best friend after we graduated high school. Its important to approach her and initiate the conversation in the right way. You don't want to come off judgmental or controlling. Just sit her down and tell how you really care about her and that you are concerned right now. Tell her how you feel. And remember that people live at different paces. Just because you are at one stage in your life doesn't mean that shes ready to be at that stage too. We all live and grow differently. Also, it sounds like she needs a little encouragement. She might want to make her life better but doesn't have the will power or support to do so. . .
