Question:

Worried about not gaining enough weight during pregnancy?

I'm 16 weeks pregnant and so far have not gained anything, in fact I've lost 5-7lbs. When I got my ultrasound the baby was actually measuring small by about a week, and I'm worried that I'm not gaining enough weight, but I don't know what I should do?

  1. you're fine. it when that baby starts measuring 3 and 4 weeks under/over you should start to worry. plus, you'll gain it back soon enough!

  2. I had the same concern. I have lost about 10 or 12 pounds since my first visit, but gained 3 pounds between 17-20 weeks. And, my belly is huge. I don' get it. My doctor said as long as I'm eating well, not to worry. Of course I'm still woried, but she made me feel a little better. She said as long as I gain weight later in the pregnancy, its ok I didn't gain any yet. Around 26 weeks is when she said I should start to worry if I haven't gained.

  3. i lost over 20 lbs with my first pregnancy, and my baby was 8 lbs.  i was just nauseas the whole time.    iam  no due again in Oct and have only gained 8 lbs  and i eat like a pig.  it;s good.  it just means your not retaining water.

  4. If your doctor was concerned they would let you know.  I didn't gain any weight with my pregnancy until I was 20 weeks along and had lost weight up until that point.  My midwife told me to drink a milkshake every night before bed.  I ended up gaining only 15 lbs and gave birth to a healthy 7lb 12oz baby girl.

  5. consult your ob/gyn or a different ob/gyn for 2nd opinion
