hi, i dont know if anyone can help me but i was driving past a gastro speed camera the other night and it flased twice as i was just comming off of it but there was another car on it behind me, now i was 100% doing no more then 25mph in a 30mph zone as i am so paronoid of speed cameras, but to me the other driver did not look to be going that fast! is the camera set off when you leave the white lines? or if you are on them? please can anyone give me any info to put my mind at rest ... p.s i have been driving for a year and a half now and as you may know you are only alowed 6 points in the first year of passing your test before you loss your licence ;-(

  1. Well  if it did flash it must of been you because the car behind you can't go any faster then what your going.

  2. Hey :)

If the cam takes a pic of you after you've left the white lines then it doesn't count - the lines are perspective markers to verify that the camera is working right, or near enough. But you need to be doing about 170mph for it to flash you too late....

If you've not gotten any points yet you'll only get 3 points and a £60 fine so it won't cost your your lic in case it was you that got flashed.

And if they don't write to you within 6 months, it's also invalid anyway. :)

    Cheers

  3. If there are two cars in the picture they won't fine either of them as they can't know for sure who triggered the camera.

don't know exactly when the camera is set off, but they do use electronic detectors embedded in the road surface so they should be fairly acurate.

So if you know you weren't speeding then you'll be fine.

Also sometimes they do fire off randomly I have seen it happen when I wasn't speeding and never received any fines.

  4. From the way that you are describing what happen you should be okay, just relax and dont worry.
