Okay, so it happened with my sister and my mom was still able to deliver vaginally and the doctor was able to get it off very fast.

I have this huge fear the the cord will be wrapped around his little neck and he won't live or that it will happen when he is in my womb and he will die (i really hate having these thoughts and i know it sounds awful but i cant stop freaking out about it). I am so worried! None of this started until i read the book Belly Laughs, great book btw highly suggest it. Anyway it never really crossed my mind until I read it in that book. How many women does this happen to? Did you baby survive it? Anything to help calm my nerves... thanks.

  1. The cord was around my baby's neck and I delivered vaginally. It caused his heart rate to drop until he was born but he's a week old today and fine.

  2. It happened with my second son.  The Dr didn't know the cord was around the neck until I pushed and the head was out and she noticed the cord was around his neck 3 times.  She unwrapped it while just calmly telling me not to push and I noticed in the mirror what she was doing.  She got it unwrapped and then said ok push and one more push and he was out.  They put him on my chest and he seemed ok.  They checked him out and cleaned him up and he ate really good right away and is doing great.  He is now 3 1/2 years old and can pretty much keep up with his 6 year old brother on most things including some of the school stuff too.

  3. I know quite a few women this happened to and their babies were just fine. It actually happened to me when I was born - my mom ended up having a c-section because every time she would go to push me out the cord would tighten around my neck and my heart would stop. The doctors know to stop the vaginal birth when it gets to that point, though, and do a c-section.

I know how you feel though, I have the same worry. I think that's normal, we just want our babies to be born healthy.

You're right, Belly Laughs was a great book. ;o)

  4. I also had this huge fear as well. Mine was wrapped around my neck when I was born.

When I went to have my first daughter, her heart rate dropped during me pushing, I knew it was the cord.

Sure enough it was wrapped once around her neck

With my second child, hers was wrapped around her neck 2 times and in a knot.

my sons was wrapped but he was breech via section

my 4 child also had hers wrapped she was repeat csection..

i wouldnt worry. It is possible

My kids were all healthy. they never had any problems

  5. It happened to my baby, I had a c section, She was/is fine 6 months later. It happens often and the doctors are trained and prepared.

  6. IF your doctor has  no concerns then you shouldn't either. Usually when this happens baby's heart will beat faster and slower than usual, and sometimes even your heart rate goes a little haywire. There are some signs that doctors notice when this happens n they will call for an ultrasound to make sure everything is ok. MY second daughter had the cord wrapped around her neck and I delivered her vaginally and they got it off right away and she is 14 months now and super healthy!MY little brother was a blue baby(cord wrapped around his neck) when he was born and he is now a 19yr old healthy guy so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Its not a 1 out of 2 situation but its not uncommon for the cord to get wrapped around baby's neck when they are doing baby karate in your stomach...usually they untangle themselves though. So just relax and take it easy.
