I'm 12 weeks pregnant and I have an appt next week with my OB but lately when I have a bowel movement I see some blood in the toilet and when I wipe myself (Don't wanna gross anybody out) Is this something to worry about??? It's not a lot of blood it's just like a drop.

  1. As long as you are not having cramps and heavy bleeding you should be okay.  You need to definitely mention it to your OB next visit.

  2. This is most likely caused by a hemorrhoid. Check the surface of your bottom with a mirror, if you don't see an obvious cause then it is most likely an internal hemorrhoid. These are very very common during pregnancy because of the pressure baby puts on your rear.

More seriously you could get an anal fissure (a tear) but you would more likely be experiencing a great deal of pain with that.

Try to eat more insoluble fiber. Look in the grocery store for fiber cookies, or fiber drinks that can help you potty without the pain. You should also buy some witchhazel pads, like Tucks medicated pads. Gently wipe the area with these, it can calm the inflammed tissue and help the swelling go down. Do not use any other over the counter hemorrhoid medication. They aren't good for baby. Tell your doctor at your scheduled appt and he will most likely give you some cortizone cream to help ease the swelling.

This is definitely not bowel/internal bleeding as the blood is minimal and bright red. Black stools are the sign of some sort of internal bleeding, so don't worry. You're experiencing a normal symptom of pregnancy.

  3. Is it bright red? It sounds like hemorrhoids, which is very common during pregnancy. Try taking extra fiber supplements. I had really bad hemorrhoids after having my baby. Lol- you'll get used to them!

  4. I've had this before and sometimes it's from not having enough fiber and also could be because of hemorrhoids.  Don't panic too much.

  5. As long as its not period like blood and there's no cramping then u have nothing to worry about!

  6. Hemorroids are quite common during pregnancy. I've struggled with it ever since my son was born... I wouldn't think it's anything to be concerned about. Wait until your next doc visit and just ask then to make sure :-) Good luck!

  7. Blood from your bum right?

You probably have hemerroids or fissures.  Definately let your doctor know.  They will recommend you to increase your fibre and water intake.

  8. you should get it checked right away!!! Not trying to scare you but thats not suppose to happen when you are prego...

  9. Well.... it could be something to worry about and it also might not be.  It is really a 50/50 chance.  I had the same thing happened to me with my youngest son around the same time as yourself and although I was freaked out for about a month the spotting went away and I had a healthy baby boy.  However, first make sure that the area that is spotting is coming from your v****a and not your bum.  Once that is clear make sure that you call your obgyn.  You def. need to make sure that your obgyn is aware of this.  They might want to have you come in asap.  This could be something very slight and nothing to worry about, or it could be a sign of an early miscarriage.  Keep a watchful eye on it to make sure that the spotting does not become any heavier than what it is now.  Try to stay off your feet and refrain from doing any strenuous activities.  Good luck! :)

  10. You need to call the doctor.  The blood could just be from constipation which is common during pregnancy and if you are struggling to go this could be the reason for the blood.  But you definetly should talk to your doctor right away.  Good Luck!

  11. you probably have hemorrhoids and they are very common in pregnancy especially if you are constipated. i wouldn't worry to much about it. try some witch hazel pads or something to help them heal...

  12. First of all congrats!!  Don't worry,  like many people have already told you, it is probably hemorrhoids... Lucky you, they will never fully go away... I got those when I was pregnant too, and for the most part they are not there, but there are some flair ups... Just relax and don't stress, it is hard on your baby.  You will have an awesome appointment and get to here the hear beat and learn all kinds of fun things!!  Good luck!
