  1. brad pitt in THE DEVILS OWN would be my call. i thought gere and cruise did good with theirs though.

  2. they all put on horrid Irish accents don't know why they even bother to try

  3. Julia Roberts in Michael Collins and Mary Reilly was very peculiar.

Didn't see Devils own, heard it was rubbish, I'd nearly look at it now just to hear the accent.

  4. I didn't think Brad Pitt was THAT bad, but if you want to see a good actor doing a horrible accent, check out Kevin Costner in 'Robin Hood'.  I know, it's supposed to be a British accent, not an Irish accent, but I had to mention it because it is sooooo bad.  Orlando Bloom in 'Pirates'...even worse.  Don't know how he ever became a Hollywood star, must have sucked off a producer.

  5. Leonardo in titanic AND gangs of new york ( should be shot with a ball of his own shite for crimes against humanity, for those 2 absolute poxy accents)

Tom Cruise in far and away, and Nicole Kidman in the same film...enough said

Julia Roberts in Michael Collins!!! and also for Mary Reilly

your man in the second Charlie's angels film..I think his name was seamus or something... I could have put my foot through my telly after watching that one hahahahahah

the question  should be.. who has actually done a decent Irish accent in a movie?

  6. The Devils Own is the worst, but I think a close call is also Leonardo di Caprio's in Gangs of New York.

  7. I was visiting Ireland when "Far and Away" was out and heard a lot of people complaining how bad his accent was.  I wasn't too quick to open my mouth in fear of having to pay retribution to the Irish people.

  8. Tom Cruise deffo - even the wife had a better accent! His was absolutely awful.  Didn't think much of minnie driver in Circle of Friends either (didnt think much of the film!!).

Did you know they filmed part of Far and Away (snow scene meant to be in states) in Amiens Street, Dublin, the big red building on the corner of Sherrif Street .  They covered it with fake snow.  Another scene was filmed in Temple Bar. You think, having been here, he would know how bad his accent was.

I agree with Lone Wolf don't think I've ever heard a good Irish accent in a film and don't understand why they have to have non Irish actors for Irish parts.

  9. Tom Cruise was supposed to be from Cork (I think) it that god awful film, if his dire accent didn't put you off the over all s**+te plot did.  I think they think we all talk like leprechauns!

but on the other extreme I heard Colin Farrells accent was only 'bleeden deadly' in Alexandra

  10. Julia Roberts in Michael Collins was just painful.

Angel in Buffy is pretty bad.

I think the problem is most of these actors haven't talked to real Irish people and think we're all lucky charms and sh*t :)
