I am just looking for people to share their stories of really bad car crashes that they have been involved in and survived. What happened? How long were you injured? How were you injured? Operations? etc.

All bogus answers will be reported.

(I've never been in a car wreck, but I think that's probably one of the worst cases)

  2. This is a weird question.

There was recently an accident locally, where a mother took her twin teenage daughters to the DMV on a Monday morning.  They had turned 15 the prior Saturday.  They left the DMV with beginners permits, and the eldest of the two girls drove while the mom was in the passenger seat.  The other twin was in the rear.

They immediately got on the interstate, which I woudl say is a bad decision since it was the child's first time driving.  She accidentally got into the lane to exit to a rest area, and swerved to get back in teh interstate lane.  A concrete mixer collided with them, rolled over them, and dumped its load in the car.  The driver and front seat passenger (mother) were killed.  The other girl survived with a broken leg and other injuries.

My sister was in an accident that resulted in the death of one of her children.  She had been visiting family out of state, and had exited the interstate to take a back way home and visit another family member.  She went through an intersection, was broadsided by another vehicle and that sent her spinning into a third vehicle that was stopped at the other side of the intersection.  Her vehicle and the other one burst in flames, and only two of her three children got out:(  My nephew was 16 months old.

What made this accident more tragic is the fact that it was preventable.  It happened on a Sunday night.  The Friday night before, there was a police chase that ended at that intersection when the person being chased crashed into a power pole.  The overhead stop sign and the stop sign on the right hand side were knocked down.  They should have been back up by the time my sister was coming through this intersection two nights later, but htey were not.  The only stop sign was on the left, and my sister failed to see it because the intersection is (was) very dark-and who looks for a stop sign on the left?  The reason why there were stop signs on both sides and hanging was because this intersection had proved deadly before.  Thankfully, there is now a stop light at the intersection so it is safer, but it is sad that it did not happen prior to my nephew's death.

    --------------------------------------...

My uncle was a long distance truck driver, and he had a partner.  They were in Indiana, and he was resting in the sleeper compartment while the other driver was at the wheel.  Apparently, that other driver dozed off and ran off the road.  He woke and over corrected, and the truck flipped.  My uncle was thrown out of the vehicle, and the tanker trailer ended up resting on his legs.  He ended up having his legs amputated above the knees, but he survived.
