is it just me, or is it that the maple leaf becoming more of an embarassment every week now. They were asking to hire former leaf Joe Nieuwendyk, and were declined. Ok so the leafs fired Fergie in middle January, now we are into late May and still nothing. So what does everyone thing of the high-brass of the MLSE. Where do the leafs go from here? no team is letting the leafs talk to management people? Whos next for GM?

  1. What exactly does Nieuwendyk have to offer the Leafs? It's not like he's the experienced GM or coach the Leafs need. I think Florida was just doing us a favour. Besides, does Florida look like they're in a position to give up anyone who's capable of doing anything? At best, old Joe would be an inexperienced assistant coach. It's not like there are no other options for that position.

The first thing they need to do is fill the GM spot anyway. I'd rather see them take their time and find the right guy than just dump in another Fergie. Then they'd really be an embarassment.

  2. Worst Franchise- definatly the Leafs

  3. Go Oilers. Leafs are just one of the worst teams last season.

  4. I would normally be quick to throw the Islanders under the bus, but Toronto is proving to be a very misguided and disapoining franchise to most NHL fans

  5. I think The Leafs are truly trying to take that crown away from the Islanders. Both clubs need real fixing

  6. Los Angeles Kings are the Worst In The League!

Last Place out of all 30 leagues.. Toronto is 23

  7. I'd go with the Blackhawks.  The only reason I say that is that they have had zero success for a long time - even longer than the Leafs - and they don't rake in a lot of money.

The Leafs are a joke on the ice and in management, but they make more money than most of the rest of the teams combined.  If you're talking about franchise success, you have to respect their financial state.

  8. Florida, no brainer.

  9. I hear you on the Leafs.  I think all hockey fans do.  That franchise is in terrible disarray as anyone can see... especially Leaf fans, like myself.

However, I have to say that the Nashville Predators seem to be the worst franchise in the league.  Why?

Well, their ownership is a mess.  We all witnessed what a nightmare their attempt to sell that franchise was this past year.

Also, their fan base is not interested in hockey.  Maybe if Elvis played for them, people would show up.  Their fans don't understand hockey and this is a precarious marketing position to say the least!

The team on the ice is not very good.  Sure, they made the playoffs this year but I think most would agree that they were the weakest team to do so this year.  Talented players that they have had in recent years bail out to other teams pretty quickly!  They see Nashville for a year and run!

Their AHL team is not very good.  A lot of bad NHL teams have pretty good AHL teams... not Nashville.  This would suggest that their "young developing talent" is not very talented!

So, the Leafs are a disgrace, but they are not going anywhere.  Nashville, on the other hand, will continue to be a terrible team that soon folds up tent and moves elsewhere to try and get fans... unfortunately, that does not change the talent they have to put on the ice...

  10. I have to say Panthers.  Every time i see them on tv I always think to myself "They are still a team?"

  11. I don't like to see ANY fans suffer the way Maple Leafs fans do. Such a great franchise with a proud history is being ruined by bean-counters.

  12. the leafs!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!! ITS SUCKS TO BE  A LEAFS FAN NOW A DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
