Question:

Worst thing to go wrong with pierced ears?

hi, i've been thinking about getting my ears pierced for several months now, but i am VERY nervous about infections, i could care less about what it feels like to have them pierced, but i had three ear surgeries when i was ages three, four, and six, so i am always nervous when it comes to unexpected trips to the doctor. i am going to just get my ear lobes pierced, and it will be done most likely at Icing, since i don't know where else to go in my town for ear piercing. what is the worst infection i could get from this? how would it be treated? i don't know if i'm allergic to any metals, but would it be okay to having them pierced with titanium ( i was planning on getting the 4 mm white gold balls, because i wasn't sure about titanium)? (i came THIS close to having them pierced today but got freaked out and left because i wasn't sure about infections, that's how bad my fear is.) thank you for appropriate answers.

  1. There isn't much to be afraid of.

Just make sure you have them pierced at some sort of official place. Not those ones that says "Piercings for a dollar!"

    Yeah. Those aren't so safe.

  2. Wow. You won't get ANY infections if the place has professional workers.  If they're still in business then people must not have any complaints about getting infections from there! Is there even such a thing about being allergic to metal? I'd suggest going to your doctor and asking them about what the ear piercings would do to your ears. Good Luck :]

  3. go ask ur doctor see what he or she says

  4. When I got mine done, I couldn't get the peircing stud out of my ear.  Had to go to the DR to get it out.

Just make sure your hair doesn't wrap around it (My mistake) and keep it clean.

    You'll be fine.

And titanium is your best choice if you don't know about allergies

  5. well, piercing your earlobes usually cuases no problem at all. you just need to make sure you clean around your ears where you got them pierced. but if you get your cartilage pierced, if you pierce a nerve by accident, you can actually lose your hearing. and i'm sure this could most likely happen anywhere on your ear. just make sure the place ur doing it at is legitimate, they know what their doing.
