Worth putting money into car??

Hi everyone. I recently bought a 1998 Honda Cicic DX for $3200. The car isn't in that great of shape but I bought it for the gas mileage. But now I'm starting to get more into the import tuning scene. (i've been a domestic kinda guy and just bought my first import) The car doesn't have any rust just lots of dents and scratches. So heres the thing, i already bought new front and rear bumpers and i can get new fenders, hood and door for about $600. And I have a buddy that is a body repair mechanic and he can fix all the other dings and scratches and get all the paint and paint it for about $600. So is $1200 worth putting into the body to have a real nice looking civic? And i'd also wanna do a motor swap and suspension upgrades but thats later down the road. So is putting the money into my car worth it? Just also let me say that I dont mind doing all this work myself seeing im a mechanic.

that,s not bad! if you can get it fixed up for that, you better take it, that,s if it runs as good as you say.
