  1. Don't worry you have options. there are plenty of companys that will make things to bring the nitrates down, but from experience I know those usaully don't work. Some say that bringing live plants into your cycle can bring them down too. Also adding benifitial bacteria into your tankwill help too. almost all aquarium stores will carry them, But the best thing you can do for now is wait conyinue with weekly water changes and the usaul just keep checking the nitrates and it should eventually go down.

  2. Cleaning out your tank doesn't help; you only end up starting the cycle all over again.

Give it time. Bacteria will convert the nitrite to nitrate. After that, you can perform periodic water changes to keep the nitrate in check.

  3. ask a vet

  4. DO NOT use any chemicals

just let it finish the cycling process

since you're asking about nitrites, your tank is almost done cycling

  5. Well, your tank needs time to cycle properly. No matter how many water changes you do, the nitrite levels may still peak out, as the fish in the tank are constantly producing ammonia, which are converted into nitrite. Therefore, during the cycling period, there will always be nitrite present, until your tank has finished cycling. Despite what I've said be sure to perform water changes to sustain excellent water quality. As you have nitrite in the water, the fish are going to be more susceptible to disease, so you may want to purchase yourself some medication, just incase a disease like fin rot, or whitespot brakes out, so you can eradicate them immediately. Water conditioners also remove metals and chemicals in the water like ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.

I really do hope this helps, good luck, and happy fishkeeping!

  6. u should clean the tank 1 time a week. and add some amquel plus. its in a white and orange bottle and i use it like 1 time a week.

it works great and reduces the ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites.

  7. You need to increase your tanks holding of bacteria.  Go to the fish shop and buy some liquid bacteria.  I like nutrafin cycle, but there are many to chose from.  Use this regularly (1 cap daily) to develop the beneficial bacteria and let your tank settle itself.  Dont clean the filter yet, thats where the bacteria lives.  Tanks need to cycle.  The regular water changes are good but the bacteria needs to be there to eliminate the nitrite.  Good luck.
