Im irish and didnt learn what a "bang" was until I was in Aruba getting ready for my wedding day and the stylist said " would you like a bang"???  I thought I was being offered some hard drugs or something.  pmsl!!!!

Turns out he was asking if I wanted some hair sweeping across my forehead........its also means a fringe!

Hrmmm... my mom is british so I think that it's called fringe there. But either way they are the shorter hair that is cut sit on your forhead. Lot of people don't have bangs but just as many do.

That's "What are" (you all do still spell words correctly, right?) and it's the short hair someone might wear over their forehead either fully or partial (parted).

...hair extensions tend to be used to give the illusion of longer hair than the person actually has, so wouldn't typically be needed as bangs.
