  1. OR.... you could keep working at the job and look for another.

Its easier to get a job while you are working than to get one while you are unemployed (sad but true, employers see the unemployed as hopeless cases often).

You could look for other jobs that don't require qualifications, or perhaps an apprenticeship. While you are looking for other jobs you could do a college course, most employers require that you have a minimum of English and Maths GSCE's.

Stick it out, work hard so you get a good reference of your boss and look for a better job, and perhaps do a course to pass English and Maths is my advice

  2. You're in a bit of a bad situation because if you're sacked or just leave you get no JSA for up to six months, I would quietly just have a word with your employer and tell them it's not for you. I would personally get back into education or just be a man and stick it out until something better comes your way.

    Good luck.

  3. No you have done well to get a job and you must stick it out. All jobs have unpleasant aspects. With work experience in time you may become well suited to a better paid skilled job. Not being able to spell does not matter in many jobs and many who spend their life studying and staying in education many many years after your age end up unemployed and unhappy, whereas many with few educational qualifications end up being very successful and making plenty of money. It is your work ability and motivation that counts in life. Cleaning up excreta is not too bad anyway. I had to do it when I was a merchant navy cadet before I ended up as a fully qualified ships officer and got a Ship Masters certificate but when I left school I had only 5 O Levels but I then improved my GCEs by studying as an adult at sea, and perhaps you could contact "Learn Direct" and do likewise while continuing to work? Good luck, mate, your doing OK.

  4. You should go back to college and do an English course.

You never know, it might give you the skills to do a job other than on minimum wage.

  5. You represent exactly what is wrong with the UK these days.

The government is happy to hand out benefits to those who *choose* not to work, when really, benefits should be for those who are truly needy.  I work every day to pay taxes which pay for your benefits - why should I do that?  I could become a dole bludger too!

Your job might suck but, I hate to break it to you, but what other kind of job are you going to get with no GCSEs?  Oh that's right ... probably none.  It's either this or ... well, not much else.  So you have a choice - either get on with this, or go back to school and get some qualifications so that you can get a real job.

It really annoys me when people like you refuse to do the jobs that you're qualified for.  Why?  Well, how many people have ever complained about foreign workers coming to the UK and "taking all our jobs"?  Certainly a lot of people on this forum.  Guess what though?  They're taking the jobs that people like you DON'T WANT TO DO - you'd prefer to just claim benefits instead.

  6. you really shouldn't have left school before you learnt to spell.

more annoying is the fact i'm pretty sure you spell like that deliberately. why? if you wanted a better job with more pay..why did you leave school? im curious? why complain your stuck in a c**p job when you clearly weren't willing to work for anything better. your probably destined for this kind of life now..so quit complaining and get on with it.

one of the many people who will be supporting you in the near future.

  7. Stick it out Timbo.  You are not the only one cleaning up puke and c**p you know, nurses often have to do it and they DO have qualifications. Care workers do it all the time.

You have not started out well - to leave school these days with no GCSE passes' at all means one of two things - you are as thick as a very thick plank, or you wasted your years at school, maybe being the class joker or being bone idle or whatever.  Starting out like that does not mean you have to finish like that!  At this moment, the very best thing you could do is to stick with this job for the time being, you are proving to people that you are not a hopeless case and can work!

You have a long life ahead of you so if you have to tough it out for the first couple of years, big deal (in 2 world wars lads your age were getting killed which was even tougher!), get your self on a training course as quickly as possible. If you are really no good at book work try trades like Brick Laying, Plastering, Carpentry etc. There is no need for your whole future to be in minimum wage jobs. It is entirely up to you. Copping out and going on JSA will just confirm the impression people used to have of you. Get stuck in and prove them wrong.
