My stepmum has a pony that is 33years old and she still rides her. She loves it and is so strong still, its hard to hold her back on the open fields where she can have a canter.

  1. one of my friends has a few horses that are all getting up there, but they still act like they're two year olds. her pony, Rocky, is over thirty-five (not exactly sure after that haha lost count), and he is still haulin' all the 4-H'ers around like nothin! you should see him go! her other horse, Topper, is over 25 (again, lost count), and her mom still ghost-rides for our Drill Team with him. he's a sweet old boy. her gaming horse, an 11yo arabian still acts like he's two! i know eleven isnt old but you'd never guess that he was that old until she told you. it must be in the water over there... maybe she can bottle and sell it... lol ;D

  2. once a horse hits 25 yrs old even in great shape my stable retires them and only uses them for walk lessons sometimes trotting

  3. 37, hes our amazing Therapeutic horse!!!

  4. well it would probly be the oldets at my riding stables honeydue

    she is 34(still riden)

  5. One of my 4-H leaders has a 23 year old gelding- she's had him since he was just a foal. He was a father to 29 foals, they tried for 30 but the last mare didn't take. Now he is working as a therapeutic horse and just a horse that anyone in 4-H can ride if for some reason their horse isn't at the show/camp/etc.- when I broke my arm I rode him during 4-H camp- a horse took off galloping towards us, ran into us and made me lose balance and fall off and he just looked at me like "what why'd you get off?". I've ridden him in a class at a fun show, we had to ride him double and he was perfect during the whole class.

He is the sweetest guy- I could go on forever about him. He will let you do anything at all with him, the 4-Hers once stuck sticky notes on him when they were learning the parts of the horse. xP

  6. i know a little pony who is 39 years old and still going! hes used to teach very little kids and is so gentle with them! hes the favourite little pony in the barn :)

  7. I know a 41 year old pony. She is still fast and good to ride.

    Very old though

  8. I know someone who rides a 25 y/o mare... she is as healthy and flexible as a 3 year old. She competes in hunter hack with her, and they do great!

  9. 46, or pretty close to it.  She was born to an Amish family, so they didn't keep records of her birth date and could only give a ball park figure.  The current owners bought her from them when she was approximately 6, and they've had her for 40 years.  So she's definitely over 40 but 46 is and educated guess, and most likely quite accurate.  She doesn't do much, just walking lessons with baby beginners who weight like 50 pounds or less.  You should see her swayback.  And she has a bit of arthritis but still enjoys getting out, believe it or not.

  10. my lovely little 11.1hh welsh section A mare, melody is 25-ish now. sadly i've outgrown her but she still loves being ridden by the 2 little boys we've full loaned her to. shes stays in a field with the boys other horse sable whos in his mid-30's and is still going strong. even though melody's getting on a bit shes still full of energy and love showjumping and cross country at about 2ft3 in height. =]
