  1. This is Very uncommon now, unless the mother wasn't receiving ANY form of prenatal care or had a Retarded doctor, it is Very unlikely that they wouldn't have caught this, they have shots now the mother can get to help this. I learned in college that it would just kill the baby and possibly the mother, so I'm not positive if that would be a normal side effect.

  2. No. If a mother doesn't receive the Rogham shot it can cause problems with the next pregnancy, but not her current one.

  3. I am o- and my husband is 0+. We obviously had the rh factor. Our kids were fine because they had my blood type. During pregnancy, they checked antibody levels to determine if the babies could be anemic and need a transfusion of blood at birth, but like I said, they already had my blood. The rh factor causes anemia, as the mothers blood attacks healthy blood cells of the baby's, thinking it is a foreign substance. I was never aware of low birth weight or collapsed lungs being a risk. I had three high risk pregnancies and went every two weeks since conception. I can say with with confidence that this is not due to the rh factor. Good luck.

  4. Usually you are tested for the RH factor at one of your first prenatal appts.   If you had your blood drawn..... which I have never heard of a pregnant women not having..... they would test for the RH factor and then do the apporiate treatment for that during the pregnancy.  I would say the low birth weight, collasped lung, and appearance of being blue.... would all be attributed to the fact that the baby was not receiving enough oxygen......  I don't know if the collapsed lung would have been an effect of less not enough oxygen in utero........ or else a attibutating factor to the low birth weight.  You didn't provide much information to make any more assumptions from there.

  5. If you are Rh-sensitized the baby can have mild to severe the loss of red blood cells (anemia) due to your antibodies trying to kill the  Rh+ protein blood of the baby. This sounds more like a placenta not functioning properly
