Hi all me and partner are travelling aus, around the eastside for 4 months, flights and travel around is already sorted, this is purely spending money. We will be budgeting ourselves but dont want to be on a strict budget and do the excursions we want to do and go out when we want. Coming from the UK. Is this enough? Will it go far??

  1. Well - that's $1000 between the two of you per week - should be just enough to live off as long as you aren't planning on living in 5 star hotels and eating at the poshest restaurants the whole time!  Just remember - that is less than $140 a day for the both of you.  Not much is left over when you take away the cost of food and accommodation.  I would be more inclined to make it closer to $20000 or $25000 - but as I said, it does depend on what you want to do and see and how fancy the accommodation needs to be!  (Backpackers are really cheap so if you were planning on staying there then $16000 will obviously go a lot further)

I would suggest (if you haven't already) that you get some rough prices for everything you want to do and where you want to stay.  Add 10% onto your final amount (just as backup) because you often find things that you want to do once you arrive in a place - so you do want to make sure you have some extra cash left over.

Hope you have a lovely trip.

  2. It sounds good to me, is your accommodation sorted?

  3. Biggest shock you will notice is food is very expensive compared to the UK. if you can scratch up another 4000 it will be easier
