It must be a few levers... How stupid to go in the wrong direction.

£30,000 a year to mess up, tut tut.

Some people might like to get a train to work or drive in a beamer or a merc... lol

  1. With Reference to the 'wrong routing'.  If a signaller has pulled off the wrong way and the driver takes the signal then the blame is split 50 50, because the driver should have sufficient route knowledge to know what signal indications he/she should recieve for what ever route he is doing.

The news report is a bit scanty, plus i thought the underground worked on some sort of automated electric current system?

  2. Yes, forward means moving in front of you, and back means reverse LOL, ohh and don't forget the Big Red button that says STOP !!!!.

The greedy b@stards want extra pay, for sitting on their @rse all day :-)

  3. The driver "changed ends" and in all the confusion didn't even look for a signal. We all make mistakes, but..............! ! !

  4. Perhaps you could inform us all what signal the driver received prior to this incident, and what instructions, if any, he received from the signaller.

Was single line working in operation?  Was there a pilotman present?

Perhaps you could enlighten us, seeing as you think you know everything about it.

  5. The Driver has no excuse unfortunatley for his  BIG mistake. He will more than likely lose his job over this, if he is lucky they may offer him another position within the company.

The other thing that is a mystery is of course what the signals where showing (including any shunt signals or ground frame indicators) was there a cross over at the point to take him back onto the track he was expecting, was there a points failure? Or was there a signalmans error in routing.

Each of these could contribute to the near miss, but do not excuse the drivers error.

  6. Making it go is simple. Making it go, while controlling the acceleration to make energy consumption more efficient while checking that all of the doors are closed, and some little old lady with a shopping cart is not being dragged beneath, is not

  7. I was rather of the opinion that the system was now pretty much fully automated, the drivers merely opening the doors.  And if that ISN'T the case, it's the signalmen's responsibility to send it down the right line!
