Would 50% into s&p 500 and 50% into vanguard bonds be good?

Hey i heard this easy lazy thing for long term investing.... I heard if you invest 50% into vanguard s&p 500 and 50% into vanguard sometthing something bond. Would that be good for the long run? Or is that dumb?

If this will be your only investments, it may be good but I think it is not smart because you ignore mid-cap, small-cap and international stocks.

Be easy on yourself and invest 100% into one of Vanguard's Target Retirement Fund.  It contains everything.
