Would Ancient Egyptians be considered Persians or Turks?

In Age of Empires II, I have this scenario about Ancient Egypt and what would be a better choice for Ancient Egyptians? Persians or Turks?

In reality, I know neither would be a good choice because the Egyptians were a class of their own.

Age of Empires II doesn't have Egyptian civilization.

  1. By ancient Egypt, we're talking pre-dynastic, 5-8,000 years ago...

This is when the "melting pot" in the Nile Delta really began to populate, and then, like today, it was a mixture of peoples!

Being part of the Mediterranean Basin, it's shoreline was available to many cultures & ethnicities!

People came from the Levant (including Turks, Semites & Persians), from Sudan, and likely by ship from Cyprus as well as any other islands and ports that existed. I wouldn't even be surprised if a few Cro-Magnon came from the north on foot, to escape the Glacial Maximum!

  2. Everything that I have read, says that the ancient Egyptians are a civilization or people of their own.

  3. neither, your right. the closet geographically however would be the persians. :)

  4. For AOE II purposes... I guess Persians would be the best fit... although if you haven't tried it yet, play Age of Mythology.  It's very similar to AOE in that it's made by the same people, has the same basic commands, but you can be a number of different classical types of people including egyptians - oh, and you have awsome god powers!

  5. Actually if you are doing Age of Empires 2 then you should be the Sarecens since they would actually be the closest. Age of Mythology is cool too but I am usually the Norse when I play that one.
