Would Australians prefer to finish top or just above Britain?

I've noticed many of the Olympic news headlines in Australia are focused on the medals table and, in particular, their place in relation to Britain's. Do they really care that much about us? Why don't they just focus on their own excellent athletes?

Probably because the reason they exist as a country at all is because you all made a prison colony there; granted, it was a long time ago, but some older American Indians here still hold grudges about things some of America's ancestors did(I exempt myself and my family from this because my ancestors only arrived at the beginning of the last century).
