Question:

Would Cricket and/or Rugby Benefit from a Ladder System?

There are too many mismatches between two teams from two nations (one in the top three and one way off the pace) who play at a very different level - it's not exciting enough, I mean, it could be improved upon in that way, right?

What are your thoughts about using a ladder system, wherein in the final round, for example, the loser of the 4th/5th place match may meet the winner of the 6th/7th place match, etc.

This could cover half of the season perhaps, and it would reduce the number of USA versus St.Kitts, Australia versus Tuvalu type matches, incresing the positive, close ones in its place ....

  1. As for rugby, it would do away with the need for "lifting" in the line-outs.

  2. I think you are along the right lines, as they do in 7s you mean?

It would be fantastic to create a two-tier World Cup after the Group Stages so that the bottom two teams in each group could play for a trophy.

I am fairly certain this has been discussed at the IRB, or even running a two-tier competition from the start with more teams overall.

  3. it's the world cup. The season is completed before or after the cup. A ladder season could become boring if teams have nothing to play for.

And St. Kitts would destroy the lard arses from the usa.
