Only in that he is the star of his Davis Cup team, and the best player in his country.  Other than that, no.  Djokovic is good on all surfaces, reaching at least the semifinals in the last 5 grand slam events.  Roddick is only good on fast hard courts and grass, and has never been past the 3rd round at the French Open.  And as far as popularity in his own country, Djokovic surpasses Roddick.  Djokovic is probably the most famous athlete in Serbia, and you can't say the same about Roddick in the U.S.

why would you even compare Djokovic to Roddick like that?? no offense but I think Djokovic is on a whole different level than Roddick... Djokovic has the all around game as opposed to Roddick whom only has a monster serve but lacks basically everything else Djokovic does.

although if nole stays with just one grand slam title, he'll definitely be a roddick.

What kind of a question is this?? =))) Djokovic is 10x better than Roddick. The only weapon  Roddick has is his kick azz serve. Let's see what happens at Wimbledon. BTW It's Serbia, not Serb. Serb is a nationality like Srdjan NS said.

First of all, Serb is nationality not a country, that is Serbia, btw. And second, no, he will capture more GS titles soon!!!!!!! Andy depends only on his serve and Djokovic has the game to be number one for a long time.

What give's you that impression? Does he depend on just his serve to win? Does he get knocked out early in a tournament? How far has Roddick gone into the french open?  His best performance at french is 3R in 2001. Since then 4 R1's and 2 R2's lol. Why? Because his serve is not as lethal on clay and his ground game sux hence the poor results.

No, I think Djokovics game has already surpassed Roddicks.  Yes, they have similarities in their game, they both have explosive forehands, they love the baseline and rarely venture to the net, and both have strong first serves.  However, Djokovic has a more rounded game, in that he does not rely solely on his serve to win games.  After Roddick teamed up with Connors there was hope that the rest of his game would become more developed, in that he would start hitting his backhand again instead of just slicing the ball, that he would get more at net points, and that his return of serve would improve.  While working with Connors did improve his game, Roddick still relies too heavily on free service points to win matches, which is definitely not enough to beat Federer or Nadal.

  Also when comparing the two, one must remember that Roddick was supposed to be the savior of American mens tennis.  With Sampras gone and Agassi getting old, Roddick was supposed to fill the void.  When it became clear that Roddick could win majors but would never do for the sport what Sampras or Agassi did, Americans turned their eyes to James Blake, who has also been disappointing.  Djokovic, on the other hand, is the first player from Serbia to ever win a grandslam and is their first great player.  In asking whether he would be to Serbia what Roddick is or was supposed to be to the USA i would have to say no.
