Would Gold Bond medicated powder be okay and safe to use on a dog?

My dog, a half German Shepherd and half Black Lab, has a skin condition associated with the summer heat. I do not believe it is the mange. I wanted to try Gold Bond and see if that helps relieve some of her discomfort.

Yes it is OK.  Just make sure the dog doesn't inhale it.  Some years ago, I had a dog that had surgery for an intestinal blockage.  She had alot of irritation at the incision sight.  My very close friend is a vet tech, and this is exactly what she told me to use.  It also really helped alot.

I wouldn't try any type of powder for that type of condition but rather some type of ointment that is for dry skin that could be rubbed in enough that the dog would not be l*****g on it.The powder,even medicated,probably wouldn't do much good because it would shake it off or l**k it off in minutes

I believe it would be ok i am a vet tech and gold bonds actually makes animal sauve that we use on cow udderes and small abrasions,but yes i think it would be ok just watch the eyes, make sure the dog isnt l*****g it iff r anything. if injested with humans or animals its not good and same with being in the eyes. so watch and be careful and i wouldnt use unless u can be there to watch. if you can just go get the sauve that they make from like a petsmart or pet co or a local farm and feed supply store they would have the kind made for animals that you wont have to be so watch full and anal over k. If u ask me though i think you should go and get the flea and tick powder from your local vet or farm store like i said above and try treating her with that. i dont want to worry u but u should look at some pics of what mainge looks like and determine whether she needs to go in or not. She also might have a skin infection. my lab as a kid had that problem with her ears but of course that was a ear infection but it sounds the same as what she has on her body thats y i mention her maybe having a infection id watch it carefully. ALSO IF SHE HAS ANY OPEN WOUNDS I WOULD NOT USE GOLD BOND POWDER!!! THAT WILL STING AND ITS NOT MENT FOR BEING INTERNALLY USED!!!

I would ask my vet or you can get in contact with the  gold bond company. http://www.goldbond.com/contact-us.html I would be really wary of using it though, at least until I talked to a vet or someone from the company. It is made for humans, but a lot of stuff that is used by humans can be used on dogs and other animals. You could try giving her a bath with some oatmeal shampoo, it may help. (You can get it anywhere that pet stuff is sold.)
