That depends on how you plan to use the tv- if you want to use the tv' sbuilt in speakers, use HDMI. It carries both the audio and the video and is more convenient. Component can deliver the same quality picture, but is less expensive. In other words, if all you want the tv to do is display the video from the DVD player while your receiver plays the sound, go with component to save some dough, but get decent quality cables.
