The "cellulosic ethanol process" makes ethanol from woody crops like trees and grasses, so wouldn't that make Hemp and Bamboo a #1 and #2 resource?

  1. Any fast growing plant would work in that case. But as I understand it that process is not ready for prime time yet. When it is, weeds and hay and recycled paper and cardboard and almost anything can be used as far as I know. Hemp has the problem if being the plant that the illegal drug marijuana grows on.

  2. Certain plants work better then others, sugar cane & corn some of the best sources for ethanol. But there is probably better greenery around to extract from. Would it not be best to use solar instead?
