My gramma once told me that you can feed cats raw egg yolks in order for them to get a healthier/shinier coat. Is this true?

  1. no. never listen to grammas wives tales on stuff like that. get glen haven pet shampoo from your local vet for a healthier shiny coat. raw eggs wont acheive a result, but it wont kill your cat either cats are carnivorous animals, and its okay to feed them raw eggs, once in a great while, but i still wouldnt reccomend it, feed them cat food only, because it has everything they need in it.

  2. nah dont try random stuff like that...might kill them or it might actually works....your gamble..

  3. cats should never eat raw eggs, raw eggs contain an enzyme called avidin, which decreases the absorption of biotin (a B vitamin). This can lead to skin and hair coat problems. Raw eggs may also contain Salmonella. http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?...

  4. no idea but why are you so proud to have 2 nickels?

  5. Yes that is what we put in the milk for them. They had beautiful coat!

  6. Raw egg yolks are a good food for cats - rich in Vitamin A.  That's maybe twice a week.  Vitamin A is great for human hair and skin too.

When your grandmother did the raw egg thing the eggs were most likely locally obtained and not from the huge egg production facilities we now have.  Our eggs are meant to be cooked as today chickens are confined all their lives - living in their own f***s and urine so they are easily contaminated with salmonella.  When we eat them we cook them and it is not a problem for us.  Raw if much more iffy.

I have two neighbors with chickens so I get wonderful eggs from chicken naturally raised.
