  1. You are now an adult, and I believe you can get your social security yourself.  Call the local federal building nearest you, ask for social security and tell them your story.  You should get the check directly.  You cannot get welfare since you are in school--but you should let the financial aid office know of your situation and they should be able to help you.  B/C of your age, it may be difficult but there are ways around the rules (the need since your mother is NOT supporting you).

Good luck, and please start called today, and seeing the financial aid counselor at your school.  I would also get a part-time job if you can.

  2. No, you don't have any kids or any effort towards finding a job.  Sorry.

  3. unfortunately no because you have no children, unless you do but you didn't state that or are pregnant.

  4. contact soc. sec. tell them you no longer live with her and she is keeping your checks. you will need to have an address to have your check sent to. I advise direct deposit into a checking account since you are not living steadily in one place. They have to send the check to you. You are 18.. you fill out a change of address. it's done. She has no say so anymore.  You are technically considered homeless. you could apply for low income housing. However be aware. there is a LONG waiting list. If you can find a shelter and live there for a month or so, you will immediately qualify for section 8 housing and get a voucher and can get your own place. You will have to go thru a caseworker at the shether for that ..they have to verify you are homeless and living there. Shelters suck but you do what you have to do to get a place to live. I lived in one last  year for 6 weeks and I was miserable but I survived. If you get your own place, you will be able to probably get more financial aid and stuff for school and maybe food stamps also.. YOu cannot get all this if you live with your bf.. I would in the meantime look for a part time job. take anything ..
