Question:

Would I be able to pick my destination in the navy?

Is it possible that I could pick my destination in the navy? I'm having thoughts of joining but only if it won't contradict with my relationship with my girlfriend.

I'm only doing it for us so it would be useless if I'm going to put our relationship on the line.

If I join, would I be able to communicate with her everyday?

If not, then how often? How often would we be able to see each other?

She's in Philippines right now but I'm thinking of joining the Navy so I could at least hope that I get stationed to Japan then go to Philippines every weekend or whenever I could go. If racial background is a factor in where I might be stationed, then I would love to inform you that I'm asian (Filipino). Not that I'm trying to segregate myself from other races, I'm just stating that since I'm asian, I might be able to relate more to the culture back there, increasing the possibility of me getting stationed in Japan or any other asian country.

Thanks!

  1. You'll get a wish list as to where you want to be stationed, now if you get to go there is another story.

  2. haha good one.i wish it was like that.but yes you can request it.and your joining the navy ??? your going to be at sea half the time maybe more.im in the army.im stationed at Ft. Benning because im infantry.it all depends on your job too and where they need you.im not going to be here long at all.most likely sent to the middle east.near my friends and family.join the airforce or army.

  3. No, you can put in a request but that doesn't mean that you're going there by any means. It's their needs then yours. If you're not wanting to leave your girlfriend you're joining the wrong branch.
