I also would like to know if you are a MEDIC for the Army, does that automatically mean you are a "combat medic" or are there other positions available for medics?

  1. Yes, you can serve in the army reserves as a MEDIC for you weekend drill and two weeks annual training. There are only two way you can serve full time if you go regular army or active army reserve (AAR). to become a "combat medic" you have to be in a combat situation to be awarded that title/bagde.

  2. just about every MOS available in active duty Army is normally available to reservists. But my recommendation is for you to do some active duty time so you can get the experience to go with the training. I'm an EMT now (not military) and you'd get much more experience in the military that will be invaluable to you when and if you opt to use the Medic training in the civilian sector.
